Adopting an animal from Valley Oak SPCA means you are saving more than one life. When you adopt, you provide kennel space for another animal to wait for its forever home. By adopting an altered pet, that’s one more animal that will not be responsible for bringing unwanted puppies or kittens into our community.
Adopting a dog or cat from a shelter can be much less expensive compared to buying a purebred pet or even a mixed breed pet sold down the street from you.
Adoption prices can vary. Some animals qualify for special pricing as when adoption fees may be sponsored by a donor and some adoption fees can be more if the pet needed medical care or received additional care/training. Dog/puppy adoptions: $150. For dogs that arrived at our shelter already spayed/neutered: $75. Cat/kitten adoptions: $75. For cats that arrived at our shelter already spayed/neutered: $40.
Pets for Seniors program is designed for people 55 years of age and better that would like to adopt a pet. Pets for Seniors adoption fees: $25 cats, $65 dogs – on pets arriving at our shelter already spayed or neutered. $40 cats, $125 dogs – for any pets that we must spay or neuter.
Silver Muzzle Club is to help re-home our senior cats and dogs, ages 5 years and older. Senior animals make great pets and have lots of love to share. Senior pets may be adopted for $5 off adoption prices.
Military Service program is designed for active, retired and veteran military personnel who would like to adopt a pet. Military Service personnel can adopt a dog or cat at 15% discount. Each adoption also includes a free gift of pet apparel, toy or grooming supplies.
Adoptions include spay or neuter surgery, microchip, DHLP-P/FVR-CP vaccination, Rabies vaccination, free veterinary wellness exam, collar with tag and leash. May also include flea product, wormer, additional DHLP-P/FVR-CP vaccinations as needed for young puppies and kittens, grooming, and medical treatment if needed.
Adopters are responsible for license fees in their city/county. If you reside in the City of Visalia or Dinuba you must also pay for your pet’s license (dogs and cats for Visalia and dogs only for Dinuba). On the rare occasion you adopt an unaltered animal, you will also pay a $50 deposit that will be refunded when the animal has been altered.
Adoption Sponsor Program: this is designed for people who may not be able to adopt but would like to help others adopt pets. Several dogs and cats are fully sponsored and several are partially sponsored. It is a caring way to be an advocate for those hard to place animals that have special needs or advance age.
If you would like to sponsor a pet or are interested in adopting a pet, please visit our Adoption Center at 29010 Highway 99 (on Frontage Road between Caldwell/Ave 280 and the Visalia Airport) or call 559-651-1111 ext 3.
