Valley Oak SPCA will, through direct action, promote the humane treatment of animals, educate our community on responsible pet care, reduce pet overpopulation through an aggressive spay/neuter program and celebrate the human/animal bond.

This is a contest to find the most popular pooch in Tulare County. The winner will be the star of a pre-concert event next fall at Zumwalt Park in Tulare — receiving fame, good fortune and most importantly, some food.
All donations will be made to the Tulare County Symphony, a non-profit organization. Half of the proceeds from the voting to the Valley Oak SPCA.
To enter your dog, Click here to set up your account, submit a digital picture of your dog, and tell the world what makes your dog so special. A donation of $50 will complete your entry. And please note: Law-enforcement dogs, guide dogs and other public-service animals can enter for free.
Each vote costs just $1, and there's no limit to the number of votes that anyone can place. PLEASE encourage your friends, neighbors and colleagues to vote, too.
The Great Concert Canine will be the dog that receives the most votes by Labor Day. The promotion ends at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time on Monday, September 7, 2009.
The winner will be revealed Saturday, September 19, 2009, at the symphony's annual Pops in the Park Concert at Zumwalt Park in downtown Tulare. A picnic will begin at 5:30 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., there will be a special pre-concert event called "Pups in the Park" honoring the top 10 dogs — followed by the big announcement. Then the concert will begin at 8 p.m.
The Great Concert Canine will receive a formal outfit by Tula Bell Designs, "gourmet" goodies from Heiskell's Feed Depot, a trophy, and lots of publicity from local newshounds. Additional prizes will be provided by Akamaru Japanese Restaurant, Café 225, Henry Salazar's on Main Street, The Vintage Press and Zhou's restaurant.
